Basketball Recap: Trinitie Sutton Key Part of a Team Effort in Islanders Win

There's no place like home for St. John, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over the Baptist Hill Bobcats on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Islanders: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in December of 2024, they had to take a 41-38 defeat.

St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trinitie Sutton, who posted ten points and five steals. Sutton is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daeshia Buford, who had nine points and six steals.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emerald Alford, who earned seven points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty'Asia Wiggins, who scored eight points.

St. John's record now sits at 4-5. As for Baptist Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

St. John's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-34 loss against Scott's Branch on the 14th. As for Baptist Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-15 win against Charleston Math & Science on the 14th.
