Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountainair). They blew past the Carrizozo Grizzlies, posting a 62-8 win. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 56-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Mountainair to victory were Gabriella Knoten and Bianca Lopez. Knoten dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Lopez posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amanda Hamilton, who scored seven points.

Mountainair pushed their record up to 5-17 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for Carrizozo, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Coincidentally, Mountainair and Carrizozo will both be playing Corona/Vaughn the next time they take the court. Mountainair will head out to face Corona/Vaughn at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Carrizozo will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
