Volleyball Recap: Orleans Falls Despite Big Games from Hayley Hess and Meredith Lantis

After flying high against Clarksville on Monday, Orleans came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Lanesville Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Orleans started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Orleans had strong showings from Meredith Lantis, who had 16 digs and two aces, and Hayley Hess, who had 16 digs. Lantis is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lilah Cheatham, who had 13 digs and one assist.

Having lost for the first time this season, Orleans fell to 2-1. As for Lanesville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Orleans didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Perry Central on the 21st. As for Lanesville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Clarksville on the 21st.
