After losing to Effingham the last time they met, Newton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Newton came out on top against Effingham by a score of 6-3 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Carson Barthelme made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Barthelme was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
