Baseball Recap: Texico Gets the Win

Texico won the last time they faced Jal and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wolverines came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 15-11. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly four runs.

Jesus Chavez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Chavez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gavin Reese was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Ryker Russell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Texico lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Texico and bumps their season record up to 5-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Jal, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, Texico will face off against Loving at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jal, they will square off against Eunice at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
