Softball Recap: Corbett Takes a Loss

Corbett couldn't beat Gaston on Friday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the seventh inning. The Cardinals fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 16-14.

Bella Austinson led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Jaden McDaniel was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Corbett has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Gaston, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corbett will take on Rainier at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gaston, they will challenge Vernonia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Loggers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.73 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
