Football Recap: Jefferson Township Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Jefferson Township unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. The contest between the Falcons and the High Point Wildcats didn't end well, with the Falcons falling 35-17. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Township still got an impressive performance from Braedan Cummings, who rushed for 53 yards and a pair of TDs.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jerron Martress and Gio Dureny. Martress rushed for 171 yards and one touchdown while Dureny rushed for 67 yards and one score. Those 67 rushing yards gave Dureny a new career-high.

Jefferson Township and High Point will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Falcons will challenge rival West Milford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, High Point is set to take on their familiar foe Hackettstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
