Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Big Bear

Big Bear extended their home winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Aiden Brewer. The Big Bear Bears pulled ahead with a 62-61 photo finish over the California Lutheran C-Hawks on Monday thanks in part to Brewer, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 21 points and five steals. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Brennen Berge, who posted four points in addition to seven boards, six assists, and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played.

Despite the loss, California Lutheran had strong showings from Tyler Treder, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Ethan Ash, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards. That was a full 37.7% of California Lutheran's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Joel Doebler also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Big Bear is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for California Lutheran, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-6.

Big Bear wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 80-52 victory against Excelsior Charter on the 15th. As for California Lutheran, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 79-22 win against La Sierra Academy on the 14th.
