Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Takes a Loss

Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Roswell Coyotes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Demons of the 6-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2015.

Logan Gallegos and Matthew Armijo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gallegos scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Armijo went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Santa Fe is 4-1 when Gallegos posts two or more runs, but 0-10 otherwise.

Santa Fe's record is now 4-11. As for Roswell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe will challenge Sandia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Matadors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Demons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Roswell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Artesia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
