Softball Recap: Liberty's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Liberty waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos a 5-0 shutout. The Lancers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

Jordyn Jeske was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Brumley, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Hanna Perkins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Liberty pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will face off against Colfax at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.85 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they will take on Asotin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
