Basketball Game Preview: Mission College Prep Royals vs. San Gabriel Academy Eagles

The Mission College Prep Royals will face off against the San Gabriel Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mission College Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully San Gabriel Academy likes a good challenge.

Mission College Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They managed a 70-64 victory over Venice. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Gondoliers are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Gabriel Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 77-64 win over Norte Vista on Tuesday.

San Gabriel Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Mission College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season.

Mission College Prep strolled past San Gabriel Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2016 by a score of 68-53. Will Mission College Prep repeat their success, or does San Gabriel Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
