Football Recap: Bennett Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Bennett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were beaten by the Elizabeth Cardinals 48-0. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 49-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gabriel Nguyen threw for 52 yards while completing 75% of his passes. Cougar Cronk was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards.

As for Elizabeth, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games.

Elizabeth was led to victory by Griffin Widhalm and Tristan McCray. Widhalm threw for 78 yards and a pair of TDs, while McCray rushed for 35 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Widhalm a new career-high in passer rating (156.3).

Bennett has already played their next game, a 46-0 loss against Kent Denver on the 17th. As for Elizabeth, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cardinals 13.3, the Pirates 10.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
