Baseball Recap: Cherryville Victorious

While Cherryville's win against West Lincoln wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ironmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Rebels on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Ironmen in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won three in a row.

Camden Williams tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cherryville let Talon Dalton and Brock Bumgardner run wild. Dalton went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI, while Bumgardner' scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cherryville's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for West Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherryville will venture away from home to face off against Burns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Ironmen 3.5, the Bulldogs 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for West Lincoln, they will head out to challenge East Burke at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
