Recap: Cottage Cougars vs. Varsity Opponent
There's no place like home for the Cottage Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Varsity Opponent 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Cottage has posted yet this season.
Cottage got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Barnes out in front who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. Barnes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Lagan, who scored 17 points.
The victory got Cottage back to even at 8-8. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 279-1092-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cottage will take on Atlanta Area School for the Deaf at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlanta Area School for the Deaf comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Varsity Opponent, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 51.4 so far this season, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Varsity Opponent better be ready for a challenge.
