Baseball Game Preview: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Tipton Blue Devils

West Lafayette has gone a perfect 3-0 against Tipton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Red Devils will host the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. West Lafayette has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Tipton will come in with three straight victories.

Harrison hit West Lafayette with a nine-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 14-4 to the Raiders.

Ben Werth made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for West Lafayette: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Calvin Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Tipton sidestepped Sheridan for a 4-3 win.

Kellen Hussong was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Tipton's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for West Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

West Lafayette took their win against Tipton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
