Jones Made His Presence Known in Saguaro's 30-20 Defeat

Starting off the list is Saguaro's Marcel Jones, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Jones rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 158 yards and a touchdown.

Saguaro is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6. Jones and Saguaro will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Chaparral had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Horton it was a similar story. Horton rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 198 yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Firebirds duked it out back in September of 2023.

Centennial found a leader in Taurean Hall as the squad took down Saguaro on Friday. Hall was dynamite, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making four total tackles.

The victory made it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Hall and Centennial will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Queen Creek at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
