Volleyball Game Preview: Skyline Spartans vs. Lake Stevens Vikings

The Skyline Spartans will take on the Lake Stevens Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Skyline sitting on eight straight wins and Lake Stevens on nine.

Skyline proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Issaquah 3-2.

Skyline was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (105-99), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 12-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Skyline can attribute much of their success to Sanika Vipin, who had 19 digs. That's the most digs Vipin has posted over her last seven matchups.

Meanwhile, Lake Stevens made easy work of Mount Si on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake Stevens took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-13, 25-10.

Skyline's win bumped their record up to 18-8-3. As for Lake Stevens, their victory bumped their record up to 28-3.

Skyline might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Lake Stevens in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Spartans, Alyss Kelly (who had 19 digs and three aces) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
