Soccer Game Preview: Starr's Mill vs. Woodward Academy

The Starr's Mill Panthers will square off against the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Starr's Mill has three straight victories, Woodward Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Last Tuesday, Starr's Mill got the win against Decatur by a conclusive 4-1. Considering Starr's Mill have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Decatur with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kendra Ivaska (2), Alexis King, and Olivia Shaw.

Meanwhile, Woodward Academy lost 8-1 to Chamblee on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Woodward Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Chamblee are ranked 58th).

Starr's Mill pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four matchups. As for Woodward Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Starr's Mill took their win against Woodward Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the War Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
