Baseball Recap: Joel Barlow Drops Highest Score of Season Against Kolbe-Cathedral

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Joel Barlow). They blew past the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars 16-1 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Will Gregor and Connor Thomas were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Gregor didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Thomas pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gregor has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gregor got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Thomas got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Gregor a new career-high.

In other batting news, Joel Barlow let Gavin Maryott and TJ Baer run wild. Maryott got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Baer went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Baer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Bardani, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Joel Barlow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Joel Barlow's record is now 16-4. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coming up, Joel Barlow will venture away from home to take on New Fairfield at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Kolbe-Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
