Softball Game Preview: Blake Bears vs. Orono Spartans

The Blake Bears will head out to face off against the Orono Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Blake nor Orono posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Blake's offense. They lost 15-0 to St. Paul Central on Thursday. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Orono also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Jefferson on Thursday, falling 11-0. The Spartans have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Having lost for the first time this season, Orono fell to 2-1. As for Blake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Blake might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Orono in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
