Basketball Recap: Alexandria Comes Up Short

Alexandria suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2024 on Monday. They were dealt a 67-39 defeat at the hands of the Oxford Yellow Jackets. The Valley Cubs haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Leading Oxford to victory were Ava Thomas and Jaslyn Montgomery. Thomas dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Montgomery dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave Montgomery a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Brionna Wilson, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Alexandria's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Oxford, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Jacksonville the next time they take the court. Oxford will head out to face Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Alexandria will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
