Recap: Cumberland Clippers vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans
On Thursday, the Cumberland Clippers faced the Woonsocket Villa Novans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cumberland fell 22-15 to Woonsocket. It was the first time this season that Cumberland let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Cumberland had strong showings from Andrew Ray, who rushed for 154 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and Andrew Nocera, who gained 90 total yards and two touchdowns. Ray hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Woonsocket can attribute much of their success to Jonathan Peguero, who rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Peguero hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Cinquantini, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Cumberland's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Woonsocket, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.
Cumberland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woonsocket also has no future games currently scheduled.
