Recap: Girard Indians vs. Struthers Wildcats
The Girard Indians might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was the Struthers Wildcats who claimed the real prize. Girard fell to Struthers 21-16. While losing is never fun, Girard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Struthers is ranked 101st).
Despite the loss, Girard still got an impressive performance from Ahmad Curd, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown. Curd is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last five games he's played.
Even if they lost, Girard's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Allen Hess-cardona and his two sacks.
Girard now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Struthers, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Girard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Struthers will head out on the road to face off against Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poland Seminary will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
