For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Holton and Silver Lake meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Holton sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 24-26, 25-22.
Tinley Wilson paced Holton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Wilson got some help from Kinley Fluke and her 24 assists. Finally, Beka Lassey kept Holton's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Holton's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Silver Lake, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Holton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Rossville on the 20th. As for Silver Lake, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Jefferson West on the 20th.
