Softball Recap: Monessen Takes a Loss

Monessen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-3 to the Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Thursday.

Monessen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Hurst, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Monessen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Greensburg Central Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monessen will host Sto-Rox at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greensburg Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ellis at 4:00 p.m. Ellis has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something Greensburg Central Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of.
