Soccer Game Preview: Rootstown vs. United

The Rootstown Rovers will venture away from home to square off against the United Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. United took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rootstown, who comes in off a win.

Rootstown will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Thursday, then bounced right back against Garfield on Monday. The Rovers' defense stepped up to hand the G-Men a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Rootstown, who have now won six contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, United didn't have quite enough to beat Columbiana on Wednesday and fell 2-1. United have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Rootstown's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for United, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-6-2.

Rootstown came out on top in a nail-biter against United in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rovers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
