Baseball Recap: Ashley Comes Up Short

Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Bern Bears.

Ashley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Setzer, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for New Bern, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashley will square off against North Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Screaming Eagle's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scorpions have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for New Bern, they will take on Croatan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
