League recap: Terra Nova stuns Sacred Heart Prep in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Terra Nova, who took down 293rd ranked Sacred Heart Prep, 20-13. K'ren Spain threw for 137 yards and ran for 162 yards in the win.

Menlo-Atherton moved up to 275 from 360 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Peninsula - Bay. The Bears were able to make the jump by defeating Burlingame 28-21.

The Gators' dynamic duo of Kevin Donahoe and Derek Hunter proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Donahoe threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns and Hunter had 73 yards receiving. Andrew Segre helped Sacred Heart Prep's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.

Ben Burr Kirven made the biggest impact on defense this week as Sacred Heart Prep fell to Terra Nova. The 6-foot-0 sophomore grabbed one sack.

Thanks to the talents of Spain and Tanner Piccolotti Bill Gray's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Spain leads the league in passing with 1108 yards, while Piccolotti has rushed for 597 yards this season. Menlo-Atherton's Evan Perkins leads the league in receiving yards with 426 on 18 catches.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sacred Heart Prep takes on second place Aragon. Peter Lavorato's team fell to the Tigers last week, while Aragon beat Half Moon Bay.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Gators take on the Dons. Sacred Heart Prep has allowed 29 points this season, while Aragon has given up 98. The Gators allowed 20 points last week as they lost to Terra Nova.
