Baseball Game Preview: Exeter Tigers vs. Galena Bears

The Exeter Tigers will square off against the Galena Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Exeter came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-6 to Southwest.

K Crowe put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Brexton Bowman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cason Antle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Galena was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Purdy.

Galena saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Doak, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Exeter, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Exeter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Galena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Exeter skirted past Galena 7-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
