Baseball Game Preview: Walnut Mustangs vs. San Marcos Royals

The Walnut Mustangs will square off against the San Marcos Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Walnut is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Santa Fe on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, while San Marcos put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for South East. The Royals narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Jaguars 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Charlie Le Renard looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, San Marcos saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Bagaw, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Walnut's record is now 6-11-1. As for San Marcos, their record now sits at 10-6.

Walnut was able to grind out a solid victory over San Marcos when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 12-8. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
