Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Summit Christian Academy's Winning Streak

If Summit Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 76-25 takedown of Bob Jones Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Summit Christian Academy Falcons took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Narrows Green Waves. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 40th in West Virginia, while the Green Waves are ranked 136th in Virginia).

When it comes to explaining why Summit Christian Academy lost on Thursday, don't look at Ella Botts. Despite the final result, she went 12 for 21 on her way to 34 points and four steals. The match was Botts' 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailee Martin, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points.

With the loss, Summit Christian Academy broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4. As for Narrows, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Summit Christian Academy will try to stop Mount Hope Christian Academy's six-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Summit Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Narrows will square off against Galax and their six-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
