A feisty cat fight will be fought as Rockingham County Cougars take on Morehead Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockingham County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Rockingham County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Atkins, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Rockingham County put the hurt on Atkins with a sharp 14-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Nate Revis was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Ethan Bognar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2.
Rockingham County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Morehead sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over Reidsville on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Rams since March 6, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Sands, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Judson Friese, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Rockingham County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Morehead, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Morehead's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rockingham County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. It's a different story for Morehead, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Rockingham County's hitters?
