Football Game Preview: St. John Paul II Falcons vs. Danville Hawks

The St. John Paul II Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Danville Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Paul II has given up an average of 37 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, St. John Paul II ended up a good deal behind Madison Academy and lost 48-29. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, St. John Paul II had strong showings from Mark Andrzejewski, who gained 158 total yards, and Joey Ross, who threw for 229 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Danville's offense. They were dealt a 63-0 defeat at the hands of Hatton on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Hornets are ranked 156th).

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Danville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

St. John Paul II suffered a grim 45-20 defeat to Danville when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
