Preview: Boles Hornets vs. Cooper Bulldogs

Boles has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Cooper Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Boles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four two weeks ago.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 45-7, which was the final score in Boles' tilt against Wolfe City. Boles was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-0.

Meanwhile, Cooper entered their tilt with Alba-Golden with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Cooper didn't even let Alba-Golden onto the board and left with a 40-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Cooper, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Cooper got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Canon Ingram out in front who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 47 yards and a touchdown on only four passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Adryean Mapps, who gained 140 total yards and two touchdowns.

Boles has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Cooper, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Boles has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 196.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cooper struggles in that department as they've been even better at 367.7 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Boles was taken down by Cooper 52-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Boles, Colin Ingram (who threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
