It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Walton had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Rickards Raiders onto the board and left with a 15-0 victory. South Walton's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ella Troutt made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Troutt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive pitching appearances. Troutt was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two doubles, and a triple.
In other batting news, Ava Rintala was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kayden Eckman, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
The win got South Walton back to even at 9-9. As for Rickards, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
