Basketball Recap: Kotlik Takes a Loss

Kotlik was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ignatius Beans Strivers. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Strivers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 45-38 loss last Friday.

Despite the defeat, Kotlik saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kara Hunt posted 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Hunt. Jenna Matthias was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ignatius Beans can attribute much of their success to Reanna Moses, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Danica George, who earned ten points.

Kotlik's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ignatius Beans, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Kotlik does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ignatius Beans, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-43 defeat against St. Mary's on the 8th.
