Softball Recap: Rio Rico Comes Up Short

Rio Rico extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-20 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts. The Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunderbolts from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for Mica Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Mica Mountain's part, they let Bibiana Tanori and Shaylee Fuell run wild. Tanori went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Fuell went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caeli Shellenbarger, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Rio Rico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mica Mountain, they have already played their next game, a 9-5 victory against Crismon on the 3rd.
