Basketball Game Preview: Los Angeles CES Unicorns vs. Poly Parrots

The Los Angeles CES Unicorns will challenge the Poly Parrots at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Los Angeles CES is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 47-46 win over San Pedro. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Unicorns' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 609th, while the Pirates are ranked 304th).

Meanwhile, Poly came tearing into Thursday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-50 win over the Lobos.

Los Angeles CES better keep an eye on JD Wyatt. He was instrumental in Poly's win, putting up 33 points. Wyatt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 35 games he's played dating back to last season. Quian Khawaja was another key player, earning 16 points.

Poly pushed their record up to 20-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points over those games. As for Los Angeles CES, their record is now 8-19.

Los Angeles CES lost to Poly on the road by a decisive 58-44 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Los Angeles CES avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
