Soccer Game Preview: Rome vs. Southeast Whitfield County

The Rome Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rome will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Rome earned a 3-1 victory over Calhoun. Given Rome's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Calhoun are ranked 248th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rome hit Calhoun with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Annabel Chandler, Melanie Hernandez, and Emily Cooper.

Despite a strong season so far, Southeast Whitfield County has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Starr's Mill. That's two games in a row now that Southeast Whitfield County have lost by just one goal.

Rome pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three matches. As for Southeast Whitfield County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Rome might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Southeast Whitfield County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
