Football Game Preview: Rolling Meadows Mustangs vs. Hersey Huskies

Rolling Meadows is 2-8 against Hersey since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Rolling Meadows knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Hersey likes a good challenge.

Rolling Meadows' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Wheeling for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than 31 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Hersey waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 38-34 W against the Knights. Things were looking grim for the Huskies in the third quarter (they were down by 22) but they stormed back to get the contest.

Rolling Meadows better keep an eye on Jake Nawrot. He was instrumental in Hersey's win, throwing for 339 yards and three TDs, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Nawrot a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Hersey's leading receiver Tyler Wentink was Nawrot's top target yet again, picking up 106 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Hersey's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Rolling Meadows, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.

Rolling Meadows was dealt a bruising 49-7 loss at the hands of Hersey in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Huskies' Brandon Jenkins, who rushed for 185 yards and three scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Now that the Mustangs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
