Softball Recap: Hillcrest Sets Scoring Season-High Against Vista Del Lago

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vista del Lago Ravens a 21-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Trojans have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashley James tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Melody Acevedo was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. What's more, she posted three doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Deeana Estrada was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Vista del Lago, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.
