Baseball Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. Fairfield Prep Jesuits

The New Canaan Rams will head out to take on the Fairfield Prep Jesuits at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Canaan gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Immaculate. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Stuart Hellmann tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, New Canaan's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Ungaro, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Fairfield Prep not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024. Everything went their way against Law as they made off with a 7-1 victory. The game was the first time the Jesuits have beaten the Lawmen on their field since March 23, 2019.

Fairfield Prep also got a great performance from Andrew Wong as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Wong has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Nolan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Lombardo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Fairfield Prep's record is now 3-1. As for New Canaan, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

New Canaan came out on top in a nail-biter against Fairfield Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jesuits turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
