The home team had won the previous six meetings between Millington Central and Covington, and Millington Central kept the tradition alive. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Chargers 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Chargers last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-5 loss.

Breanna Hulsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Bell and Hayley Stevens did most of the damage at the plate: Bell scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Stevens scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Bell has posted since back in May of 2024. Maddie Dotson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Millington Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only posted a batting average of .214.

The victory got Millington Central back to even at 10-10-1. As for Covington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Millington Central will head out to take on Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Covington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ripley at 5:30 p.m.
