Football Recap: South Fork Bulldogs vs. Martin County Tigers
South Fork and Martin County squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but South Fork had to settle for second. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 7-6 to the Tigers. Despite 83 more yards than the Tigers, the Bulldogs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
South Fork's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Isabella Shearn and Callie Kiess, who each picked up one interception apiece.
This is the second loss in a row for South Fork and nudges their season record down to 15-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-2 Seminole Ridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84% over those games). As for Martin County, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
South Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martin County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 33-0 loss against Seminole Ridge on the 28th.
