Soccer Game Preview: Iowa Colony vs. Friendswood

The Iowa Colony Pioneers will head out to square off against the Friendswood Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Iowa Colony barely beat La Porte the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Iowa Colony's way against La Porte on Friday as Iowa Colony made off with a 4-1 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Pioneers considering their one-goal performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Friendswood had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Friday. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 15 matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Friendswood pushed their record up to 17-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight contests. As for Iowa Colony, the win got them back to even at 8-8-2.

Iowa Colony suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Friendswood in their previous meeting back in February. Can Iowa Colony avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
