Softball Game Preview: Flora Wolves vs. Salem Wildcats

The Flora Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Salem Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Flora will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Flora came up short against Marshall on Thursday, falling 18-4.

Meanwhile, Salem unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to Columbia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since May 24, 2024.

Breanna Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Flora's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-13. As for Salem, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 18-3.

Flora couldn't quite get it done against Salem when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 10-7. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
