Basketball Game Preview: Mayde Creek Rams vs. Paetow Panthers

The Mayde Creek Rams will face off against the Paetow Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mayde Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Mayde Creek ended up a good deal behind Jordan and lost 66-48. The Rams have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Mayde Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Christian Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Gibson is now averaging an impressive 8 boards per game. Julio Quinones was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Paetow didn't have too much trouble with Tompkins on Saturday as they won 57-42. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Falcons are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paetow has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Mayde Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Mayde Creek beat Paetow 76-69 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will Mayde Creek repeat their success, or does Paetow have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
