Owasso junior wins award for second consecutive season after averaging 23.3 points.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jalen Montonati of
Owasso (Okla.) is the 2024-25 Oklahoma MaxPreps Player of the Year. A repeat selection, the 6-foot-7 junior wing led the Rams to a 25-5 record and an appearance in the Class 6A state tournament.
For the season, Montonati averaged 23.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Montonati surpassed 1,500 career points and went for a career-high 41 points in an 85-60 victory over Westmoore (Oklahoma City) in February.
At the City of Palms Classic in December, Montonati led a first-round upset of national power Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) with 28 points and nine rebounds. He averaged 26.3 points per game in four outings at the prestigious tournament.
Regarded as the No. 18 prospect in the Class of 2026 according to
247Sports, Montonati holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, St. John's, Tennessee, Texas and USC among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
