Softball Game Preview: Harrison Huskies vs. Fox Lane Foxes

The Harrison Huskies will challenge the Fox Lane Foxes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Harrison is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 15 games.

Harrison is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Brewster 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since April 28th.

Madison Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sienna Cozzali and AvA TAddeo did most of the damage at the plate: Cozzali went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Taddeo went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was BarBara Jo Coppola, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in 12 consecutive matchups.

Somers hit Fox Lane with a four-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Foxes lost 11-5 to the Tuskers. The Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Harrison's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fox Lane, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
