Baseball Game Preview: West Perry Mustangs vs. James Buchanan Rockets

The West Perry Mustangs will square off against the James Buchanan Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

James Buchanan will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: West Perry extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out Shippensburg 4-2. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Greyhounds on their field since April 20, 2022.

Meanwhile, James Buchanan got themselves on the board against Greencastle-Antrim on Monday, but Greencastle-Antrim never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Devils, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rockets have posted since May 11, 2024.

James Buchanan's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Crouse, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

The victory (which was James Buchanan's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for West Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

West Perry came out on top in a nail-biter against James Buchanan when the teams last played on April 1st, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
